Sisterlocks: Day 218

Note: This post was written earlier this month, but never published.

218Days-PreReti
5 weeks since my last re-tightening, my hair has obvious growth.

My sisterlocks are 218 days old and today is my wash and re-tightening. I can already see a lot of growth (and dirt). Ha! My last wash and reti was 5 weeks ago, but it feels like it’s been longer this time. I think that’s because I worked out a lot the past 5 weeks.

My hair smells. *side eye* I’ve been working out a lot, and although the witch hazel and tea tree oil is helpful, I haven’t had it washed since my last retightening. Ugh. (right!) I’m scared to wash it on my own because I already had a couple of locs unravel around my crown and there is A LOT of new growth. That hair is very fine and soft, so it’s really hard for the locs to take. My loctician has already had to combine a few of the crown area locs.

Merry Christmas!
5-week old hair, but still slaying the game. Ha!

It’s been pretty cold here the last couple of weeks, so I’ve made sure to spray and oil my scalp a bit more to combat the moisture loss due to sweat from working out and the changes in the weather. I’m sure that doesn’t help those locs around my crown, but the rest of my hair thanks me.

While the first photo looks a little suspect, I love how full my hair is when it starts growing out. Don’t be deceived; even 5-week old locs really good when styled. The first picture in this post was taken at the end of the day after I’d worked out. The second shot, also at 5 weeks, shows a bit of the fullness yet hides the ridiculous new growth in curls. Play on, playa.
