Sisterlocks Preparation

checklist2I scoured the ‘Net looking through videos and blog posts searching for whatever I’d need to prepare for my installation. I came up short more often than not. Here’s how I prepared for my appointment.

Preparing My Hair

Ideally, I should have washed my hair twice before my installation, but time got away from me and I was only able to get one good wash in today. I read that you shouldn’t condition before installation, so I skipped that step. After washing, I put my hair in 12 huge twists to dry. My scalp has a tendency to get dry, so I’m a bit concerned about having my sisterlocks for a full month before washing it. Lawd today.

Installation Prep Checklist

I packed a bag full of the items below to make sure I’m comfortable for the 12 hour appointment:

  • Hot oil treatment 2 washes prior
  • Don’t condition hair
  • Allow hair to dry in two-strand twists

Attire

Food

  • Breakfast, lunch, and dinner (be sure to ask if the salon has a microwave)
  • energy bars
